What We Need From You Before You Order

For the hip measurement, measure straight across the widest part of the hips and thighs while sitting on a firm chair, then add about 2 cm in total so there is roughly a finger’s width of clearance each side. For the footrests, the thighs should rest along the seat with the feet flat, because footplates set too high push the weight back onto the tailbone.
Charging, and Learning the Joystick
Whatever battery the chair arrives with, the habit decides how long it lasts: charge it at the end of every day it has been used, charge it even on quiet days, and keep it off a damp floor. A battery left standing discharged for weeks loses capacity permanently, and later charging never brings it back.
And give the person using it ten minutes with us before they take it home. Sitting All Day, and Looking After the Skin
Anybody who spends the day in a chair needs the skin over the tailbone, the sitting bones, the hips and the heels looked at once a day. Redness that stays red once the pressure comes off, or a patch that is warmer, firmer, darker or more tender than the skin beside it, is the early sign, and we would far rather see it that week than a month later.
Shift your weight by leaning forward or side to side every half hour or so if you are able, and if help is needed, whoever is caring for you should reposition you regularly through the day. Ask our pharmacist about a pressure-relieving cushion at the same time as the chair, because on a chair used all day the cushion does as much work as the chair.
