Conveen Leg Bag Straps

Conveen Leg Bag Straps help a urine bag stay flat against the leg through a whole day of walking, sitting and standing up again, which is what decides whether a man can wear one under ordinary trousers and forget about it. They come as a pair in soft elastic fabric with silicone beading that grips the skin instead of sliding on it, and they fasten with Velcro so the tension can be set exactly. They are washable and reusable. Please send our pharmacist your leg measurement before you order.

Conveen Leg Bag Straps: the Part That Keeps the Bag Where You Put It

Conveen Leg Bag Straps help a urine bag stay flat against the leg through a whole day of walking, sitting and standing up again, which is what decides whether a man can wear one under ordinary trousers and forget about it. They come as a pair, in a soft elastic fabric with silicone beading on the inside face that grips the skin instead of sliding on it, and they fasten with Velcro so the tension can be set exactly and reset the next morning.

A bag with a litre of urine in it is heavy, and a heavy bag that works its way down the calf pulls on the sheath or the catheter above it. That is how most men lose a sheath by the middle of the afternoon, and it is almost always the strap rather than the sheath that failed. So these are the cheapest part of the arrangement and the part that decides whether the rest works. Each strap is about 64 cm and is trimmed to your leg.

Fitting Leg Bag Straps Properly

Thread the straps through the slits on the back of the bag, then fit the bag to the leg with the longer strap at the top. Trim off whatever is surplus once you know where the bag sits, and keep the trimmed length for the second strap of the pair.

Worn on the calf, the top strap goes in a figure of eight, passing behind and over the knee. That is the detail that stops a filling bag travelling downwards as you walk, and it is worth getting somebody to show you once rather than reading it. Worn on the thigh, both straps sit horizontally and the upper one carries most of the weight. Our pharmacist will fit a pair with you at the counter in a few minutes if you would rather not work it out at home.

Tight Enough to Hold, Loose Enough to Be Safe

Two fingers should slide comfortably under a strap once it is fastened. That is the whole test, and it is worth doing again in the afternoon, because a leg swells slightly through the day and a strap set in the morning sits tighter by evening.

Move the straps a little higher or lower each day rather than putting them back in the same place, and take them off at night where the bag hangs beside the bed instead. Come and see us about numbness or tingling in the leg or foot, a colour change in the foot, swelling in the lower leg or ankle, or a line pressed into the skin that stays after the strap comes off. Loosen the strap first, then let us look at the leg, because any of those means the strap has been carrying more than it should.

They Are Reusable, and That Is the Point

Unlike the bag they hold, the straps are made to be used again. Wash them by hand or in a machine at 40 degrees Celsius or cooler with a mild detergent, let them air-dry rather than putting them on a radiator or in direct sun, and keep harsh chemicals and bleach away from the Velcro and the silicone.

Replace them once the elasticity weakens. A strap that has gone slack has to be pulled tighter to hold the same bag, which is exactly how a leg gets marked, so a tired pair is worth replacing rather than tightening. For somebody wearing a bag every day, a pair tends to last months rather than days, and our pharmacist will tell you when to expect to change them based on how you use them. They are latex-free.

What Else the Pair Will Do

They also hold a larger bedside bag in position overnight, which is useful where somebody uses a leg bag by day and hangs a night bag from the bed frame, and they are often used to steady tubing that would otherwise lie across the bed.

Where you are setting the whole arrangement up for the first time, please come and see us rather than buying the pieces separately. The sheath or catheter, the bag and the straps work as one system, and almost every leak and almost every sore leg in this corner of the shop comes from one piece being chosen on its own. Our doctor will set it up once, and after that it is a standing monthly order for the bags and a pair of straps every few months.

While This Pair Is Out of Stock

We are currently out of stock on these straps. Please send our pharmacist a message with the circumference of your calf or thigh where the bag will sit and how you use the bag, and we will tell you when they are back and what we can offer meanwhile.

The bag itself is in stock, so ask about the Conveen Leg Urine Bag 1500ml, which has hanger holes as well as strap slits and can therefore be hung beside the bed while you wait for a pair of straps. And where you are starting from the beginning, our doctor will go through the sheath with you, so ask about Conveen urisheaths at the same time.

Is This Pair of Leg Bag Straps Right for You?

Please talk to our pharmacist or our doctor before you buy if any of these apply.

  • Numbness or tingling in the leg or foot, a colour change in the foot, swelling in the lower leg, or a strap line that stays on the skin. Loosen the strap and let us look at the leg.
  • Your bag keeps sliding down the calf. Usually the figure of eight behind the knee was missed, or the pair has gone slack. We will check both.
  • A pair that has lost its stretch. Replace it rather than pulling it tighter, which is how a leg gets marked.
  • Diabetes, poor circulation or reduced sensation in the legs. Please let us check the fit, because a strap that is too tight may go unnoticed.
  • You are putting the whole arrangement together for the first time. Come and see us. The sheath, the bag and the straps work as one system.

Where to Buy Conveen Leg Bag Straps in Kenya

Beyond the capital we deliver to Mombasa, Kisumu, Nakuru, Eldoret, Nyeri, Machakos, Athi River, Kitengela, Kajiado, Naivasha, Narok, Kericho, Bomet, Kisii, Migori, Homa Bay, Siaya, Bungoma, Busia, Kakamega, Vihiga, Webuye, Kitale, Nandi Hills, Iten, Kapenguria, Embu, Meru, Chuka, Kerugoya, Murang’a, Othaya, Nyahururu, Nanyuki, Maralal, Isiolo, Marsabit, Moyale, Wajir, Mandera, Garissa, Lodwar, Kitui, Mwingi, Makueni, Emali, Kibwezi, Voi, Taveta, Wundanyi, Mariakani, Diani, Ukunda, Kilifi, Watamu, Malindi, Lamu and Hola. Everything in this category travels in plain outer packaging with nothing on the outside to say what is inside, and the delivery note carries our name and no product description. At a pair every few months a pack covers a known length of time, so tell us how many months you want covered and we will work out the quantity with you before you order.

Across Africa, ask us before you order. We have sent orders to Uganda, Tanzania, Somaliland and as far as Malawi, and we will quote for Rwanda, Burundi, South Sudan, Ethiopia, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Mozambique, Nigeria, Ghana, South Africa and the rest of the continent. Tell us the destination and we will confirm any import paperwork before the parcel leaves us.

Living abroad? Order from wherever you are and we deliver to your family here in Kenya. Kenyans in the UK, the United States, Canada, South Africa and the Gulf order from us regularly for parents and relatives at home. A pair of leg bag straps is needed every day rather than occasionally, so running out is the thing to plan against. Tell us who it is for, the size and how many months you want covered, and we will set up a standing monthly delivery so nobody is ever caught short.

Conveen Leg Bag Straps: Your Questions Answered

What is in a pack of leg bag straps?

One pair, in soft elastic fabric with silicone beading on the inside face and a Velcro closure. Each strap is about 64 cm and is trimmed to your leg.

How do I attach them to the bag?

Thread them through the slits on the back of the bag, with the longer strap at the top, then trim off the surplus once you know where the bag sits.

My bag keeps sliding down my calf. What am I missing?

Usually the figure of eight: worn on the calf, the top strap passes behind and over the knee. That is what stops a filling bag travelling downwards.

How tight should they be?

Two fingers should slide comfortably underneath. Check again in the afternoon, because a leg swells slightly through the day.

Can they be washed?

Yes. By hand or in a machine at 40 degrees Celsius or cooler with a mild detergent, then air-dried. Keep bleach and harsh chemicals off the Velcro and silicone.

How long does a pair last?

For daily use, usually months rather than days. Replace them once the elasticity weakens.

Why not just pull a slack pair tighter?

Because that is how a leg gets marked. A strap that has gone slack has to carry the same weight on less stretch.

Do they contain latex?

They are latex-free.

Can they hold a night bag too?

Yes. They also hold a larger bedside bag in position overnight and can steady tubing that would otherwise lie across the bed.

What should I do if my foot goes numb or changes colour?

Loosen the strap and come and see us, so we can look at the leg. The same applies to swelling or a strap line that stays on the skin.

I have diabetes. Is there anything extra to think about?

Please let us check the fit. Where sensation in the legs is reduced, a strap that is too tight can go unnoticed.

Can I wear the bag without straps?

On the leg, the straps are what hold it. A 1,500 ml bag can be hung beside the bed from its hanger holes meanwhile.

These are out of stock. What now?

Send our pharmacist the circumference of your calf or thigh where the bag sits and how you use the bag. We will tell you when they are back and what we can offer meanwhile.
