A two piece urisheath helps a man with urinary incontinence stay dry without a tube passing into the bladder, and this is the 35mm version for a wider fit. The Conveen 2 Piece Latex Urindom 35mm is a soft latex sleeve that rolls over the penis and drains into a bag, with the adhesive supplied as a separate strip that you wrap round first and place exactly where it holds best.
Please let us measure before you order one of these. The 35 is the diameter of the sleeve in millimetres, and the rule we follow is to measure around the middle of the shaft or at its widest point and, where the measurement falls between two sizes, to take the smaller. A great many men are sold the larger size when the smaller one would have sealed properly, and a sheath that is a size too big is the commonest reason these leak.
How to Tell Your Two Piece Urisheath Fits
You find out in the first minute, and the signs are clear enough that you do not need anybody’s opinion.
- Right size: the sleeve unrolls smoothly, evenly and completely, and lies flat against the skin all the way along.
- Too large: it wrinkles as it unrolls instead of lying smooth. Wrinkles are channels, and urine runs out along them. Come back for the 30mm.
- Too small: it feels tight, and a sleeve that is too tight can press on the urethra and hold back the flow of urine. Take it off and talk to us.

Fitting It Properly, Which Is Most of the Battle
Trim the hair at the base with blunt scissors; do not shave, because the regrowth irritates the skin under the adhesive. Wash with soap and water and dry thoroughly, because the adhesive needs dry skin. If the man is uncircumcised, leave the foreskin forward in its usual position.
Wrap the adhesive strip around the shaft first. Then place the rolled sleeve over the head of the penis, narrow outlet pointing away from the body, leaving a gap of 1 to 2 cm between the tip and the outlet tube so urine has somewhere to go rather than pooling against the skin. Unroll fully, or to the length of the penis, and squeeze gently along the shaft to seal. Use no creams and no powders, which stop the adhesive holding, and never ordinary tape or a rubber band, which is how real harm gets done.
The Bag, the Tubing and Where It All Hangs
The sheath is only half the system and the bag is the half that decides whether the day goes smoothly. A leg bag worn under trousers during the day, strapped to the calf or thigh, and a larger night bag hung beside the bed, is the arrangement most men settle on.
- Keep the bag below the level of the bladder, always. Urine runs downhill, and a bag lifted above the bladder sends it back the way it came.
- Empty it when it is about two-thirds full rather than waiting. A heavy bag pulls on the sheath and breaks the seal.
- Check the tubing is not kinked or trapped under a leg or a chair, which is the commonest reason nothing is draining.
- Leave the connection alone between changes. Every time the system is opened is an opportunity for infection, so connect at the start of the day and leave it.

One a Day, and Then a Fresh One
These are single use. Each one is worn for no longer than 24 hours and then replaced, and it should never be washed and used again, because re-using a urine-collection device risks carrying infection back to a vulnerable place. The adhesive loses its grip after one use in any case, so a washed sheath leaks.

Latex, and Who Should Avoid It
This is natural rubber latex, and it may cause an allergic reaction in anybody sensitised to latex. Tell our pharmacist before ordering if there has ever been a reaction to latex gloves, condoms or balloons, or if a latex allergy has been mentioned in hospital.
People with spina bifida are advised to avoid latex products as a matter of routine, and so is anybody who has reacted before. Long-term users of latex urinary products are themselves at raised risk of becoming sensitised over the years, so if the skin has started reacting after a long period of trouble-free use, that is worth telling us about rather than putting up with. Come to Us Straight Away If Any of This Happens
Take the sheath off immediately and contact us the same day if the penis swells, changes colour, becomes painful or goes numb. That is a fit that is too tight and it wants dealing with that day.
Come in promptly too if no urine has drained into the bag for several hours, if the skin underneath is broken, blistered or raw, or if there is fever, shivering, pain in the back or side, or urine that has turned cloudy, bloody or strong-smelling. For a man who measures to 35mm, has intact skin and wants to be dry without anything entering his body, this is a good and inexpensive answer, and research comparing external sheaths with indwelling catheters has reported less urinary infection among men using sheaths.
