Sebium H2O micellar water removes the day from oily, breakout-prone skin in one pass — make-up, sunscreen, dust, sweat and the greasy film that builds up by evening — without water, without rinsing and without leaving skin tight. Think about where that actually matters here. On a day when the taps are dry or the water is rationed. At the gym, where the alternative is a communal basin. In a hostel, in a matatu after a long day, in a hotel room, on a night shift, at the end of a wedding when your face is full of make-up and all you want is to take it off. A micellar water works wherever you can hold a cotton pad, and it is the only kind of cleanser that does.

Buy the 500 ml, Not the Small One

What Is in Sebium H2O Micellar Water
Bioderma publish the full list, and three things in it are worth knowing before you buy.
It cleans with micelles rather than soap. PEG-6 caprylic/capric glycerides are the gentle cleansing agents that trap oil and dirt and let a cotton pad carry them away, which is why there is no stripping and nothing to rinse.
Zinc gluconate and copper sulfate are the purifying pair, and they are the reason this version exists rather than the plain blue Sensibio one. Bioderma describe them as sanitising, and the claim they attach to the finished product is that it purifies and limits sebum secretion. Ginkgo biloba leaf extract, mannitol, xylitol, rhamnose and fructo-oligosaccharides make up the rest of the active side.
And it does contain fragrance. Parfum is in Bioderma’s own published list. That is ordinary in a micellar water and it is worth knowing all the same if you have reacted to scented products before — and if you have, say so and we will point you to the unfragranced Sensibio side of the range instead. Bioderma state this one is non-comedogenic, has very good tolerance, and is made for adults and teenagers.
What Bioderma’s Own Testing Showed
Bioderma publish their figures with the sample sizes attached, which not every maker does, so here they are as they stand.
In a usage test on 20 volunteers aged 19 to 46 with combination or oily skin, over 7 days, 95% rated the cleansing gentle and 95% reported purified skin. In a separate instrumental study on 33 volunteers over 30 days, the measured microparticles left on the skin fell by 93%.
Those are small groups and two of the three figures are people’s own impressions rather than measurements, so we give them as what they are: the maker’s own testing, not a clinical trial. The 93% is the interesting one, because an instrument measured it.
How to Use Sebium H2O Micellar Water
Soak a cotton pad, wipe it gently over the face and the eye area until the pad comes away clean, and stop there. No water and no rinsing. Morning, evening or both.
Two things people get wrong. Do not rub — on breakout-prone skin, friction does more harm than the dirt did. And do not treat it as a toner to be used after washing; it replaces the wash rather than following it, although there is no harm in rinsing afterwards if you prefer the feeling of water on your face.
If you are using a prescribed acne cream, this is a sensible way to clean the skin first, because it leaves the skin’s own oils where they are. - It contains fragrance. If scented products have given you trouble before, ask us for the unfragranced alternative instead.
- Avoid getting it into the eyes. It is made for the eye area, but it is not an eye drop; if it does get in, rinse with water.

What does Sebium H2O micellar water do?
It removes make-up, sunscreen, dust, sweat and the oily film that builds up through the day, using a cotton pad and no water. It is the Bioderma micellar water made for oily, combination and breakout-prone skin, and Bioderma’s claim for it is that it purifies and limits sebum secretion while respecting the skin’s balance.
Do I need to rinse it off?
No. Bioderma’s own directions end with “no rinsing required”. That is the point of a micellar water: a cotton pad is the only equipment, so you can clean your face properly when there is no running water, after the gym, on a night shift or at the end of a long day away from home. If you prefer the feeling of water afterwards, splashing does no harm.
Does it foam or lather?

Can I use it around my eyes?

Is it the same as the pink or blue Bioderma bottle?
No. The blue Sensibio H2O is for sensitive, reactive skin. This is the green-capped Sebium version, which adds zinc gluconate and copper sulfate as purifying agents and is made for skin that is oily and breaks out. The Sensibio side of the range is what to look at if your skin is reactive rather than oily.
