Among the fifth of participants who started with moderate to severe knee pain, seventy-nine per cent on the combination reported their pain easing by a fifth or more, against fifty-four per cent on placebo. The researchers described that result as preliminary and called for a trial designed to test it directly, which is the honest way to read it.
Put plainly, the clearest signals come from the sulfate form, from a once-daily dose, from people whose joints are already giving them a hard time, and from staying with it for years rather than weeks. That is a realistic picture of what a joint supplement offers, and it is the picture to buy on.
