Sara D3 60000iu

Sara D3 helps keep your bones, muscles and immune system working normally, supplying sixty thousand units of vitamin D3 in a single capsule taken once a week with food. The weekly rhythm is the whole design: one capsule every seven days, rather than every day, which is what makes a dose this size the right size. Speak to our pharmacist before you start, and ask about seeing our doctor, who can check your vitamin D level and set how many weeks you should take it for.

Sara D3 60000 IU, One Capsule a Week

Sara D3 helps keep your bones, muscles and immune system working normally, supplying 60,000 international units of vitamin D3 in a single soft capsule taken once a week with food. Cholecalciferol, the same form your skin makes in sunlight.

The words that matter most here are “once a week”. A dose this size is built around a weekly rhythm rather than a daily one, and understanding why is the difference between using this product well and misusing it. Here is what vitamin D does, why the number is what it is, how Kenya actually stands on vitamin D, how to take the capsule, and what to watch for.

What Vitamin D Does

Vitamin D carries one of the longest lists of approved European health claims of any nutrient, and they describe its work precisely.

  • Contributes to the normal absorption and utilisation of calcium and phosphorus, and to normal blood calcium levels. This is the one everything else rests on: the calcium in your diet is of limited use without the vitamin D to let it in.
  • Contributes to the maintenance of normal bones and teeth.
  • Contributes to the maintenance of normal muscle function.
  • Contributes to the normal function of the immune system.
  • Has a role in the process of cell division.

The D3 here is cholecalciferol, which is the form your own skin produces in sunlight and the form that raises blood levels more dependably than D2.

Why the Number Is So Large, and Why the Week Matters

Sixty thousand international units is 1,500 micrograms. The tolerable upper intake level set for an adult is 100 micrograms a day, which is 4,000 IU. Side by side the capsule looks alarming, and it would be if it were a daily capsule. It is a weekly one.

Spread across seven days, one capsule averages out at a little over eight and a half thousand units a day, which is a genuine correction dose: the amount used to bring a low vitamin D level back up over a defined period, under medical direction. Vitamin D is fat-soluble and stored in body fat and liver, so it tolerates weekly dosing in a way water-soluble vitamins do not. That is the whole pharmacological basis for this product and it is a sound one.

So the rule is simple: one capsule, once a week, on the same day each week. Pick a day you will remember and keep to it.

Two more things follow from the size of the dose, and our pharmacist will go through both with you.

A blood test turns this from a guess into a decision. A 25-hydroxyvitamin D test tells you where you actually stand, and at this strength that matters more than at any other. We have a doctor here who can order that test, read the result with you and say how many weeks you should take this for. If your level is low, a weekly capsule makes sense. If it is already sufficient, a lower daily strength is the better buy and we will sell you that instead.

Count every other source. Vitamin D appears in bone formulas, calcium tablets, multivitamins and joint products, several of which sit on our own shelves, and some prescriptions contain the activated form, which acts far more powerfully on blood calcium. Bring us the list and we will total it with you.

The Kenyan Picture, With Real Numbers

Living on the equator sounds like it should settle the question of vitamin D. Kenyan measurement says otherwise.

A study at Aga Khan University Hospital in Nairobi measured vitamin D in two hundred and fifty-three healthy adult blood donors. Seventeen per cent were deficient and a further forty-three per cent insufficient, so three in five sat below sufficiency.

The reasons are ordinary: indoor work through the middle of the day, clothing that covers the skin, darker pigmentation needing more sun to make the same amount, and sensible avoidance of the midday sun. That is the honest case for correcting a low vitamin D level in Kenya, and it is a strong one.

How to Take Sara D3

One capsule weekly, with a meal, or as directed by our doctor or your own. Swallow it whole with water.

Take it with food containing some fat. Vitamin D is fat-soluble, so a capsule taken with eggs, avocado, nuts or a meal cooked in oil gets considerably more of the dose into you than one taken with tea. It is the most useful practical point attached to the product.

Same day each week, and if you miss one, take it when you remember and carry on rather than doubling up.

Vitamin D works slowly and invisibly. Blood levels climb over weeks to months, so judge it by a repeat test rather than by how you feel, and let that result decide what comes next.

Who This Suits

Adults whose blood test has shown a low vitamin D level, which is the clearest reason of all and the one this strength exists for. People advised to take a weekly correction dose for a defined period, whether by our doctor or their own. Adults who work indoors through daylight hours, anyone who covers most of their skin outdoors, older adults whose skin makes less vitamin D than it did, and anyone who would rather remember one capsule a week than a tablet every morning.

Is Sara D3 Right for You?

More to settle here than on an ordinary supplement, and it takes two minutes at the counter. Please talk to us before you start.

  • ONE CAPSULE A WEEK, NEVER ONE A DAY. Sixty thousand units is fifteen times the daily upper intake level set for adults. As a weekly dose that is correct and well established. Taken daily it would be far too much. If you are at all unsure, leave the pack with the weekday written on it and ask us to set a reminder with you.
  • Have your vitamin D level checked. A 25-hydroxyvitamin D test shows whether you need this strength and for how many weeks. Our doctor can order it, go through the result with you and set the course, which is a conversation to have at the start rather than six months in.
  • Add up every other vitamin D you take. Bone formulas, calcium tablets, multivitamins and joint products commonly contain it, and a prescribed vitamin D medicine containing the activated form needs a doctor’s view before anything is added to it. Bring the prescription in and our doctor will look at it with you.
  • If you have kidney disease, sarcoidosis, or a history of high blood calcium or kidney stones, speak to your doctor first, or to ours. These are the situations where vitamin D needs supervising rather than self-managing, and where the doctor already treating you should know about it.
  • Pregnant or breastfeeding, or buying for a child? Ask us, and our doctor can see you the same visit. A weekly high-strength capsule is an adult product and children are dosed quite differently.

What to watch for. Taken as directed, at one capsule a week, most people notice nothing at all, which is what you would expect from a nutrient working quietly in the background. The things to tell us about, and they are associated with taking too much over time rather than with the correct weekly dose, are nausea, an unusual thirst, passing more urine than usual, constipation, or a tiredness that settles in and stays. All of those point in the same direction, which is calcium rising in the blood, and all of them are reasons to stop, come and see us, and have your calcium checked. They resolve when the dose is corrected.

Storing It

Keep the pack tightly closed in a cool, dry place away from direct light and heat, below 25 degrees, and out of reach of children. A cupboard rather than a windowsill or the shelf above the cooker. Soft capsules are more sensitive to warmth than tablets. Because this is a weekly capsule, a pack lasts a long time, so check the expiry date against how many weeks your course will run.

Beyond the capital we deliver to Mombasa, Kisumu, Nakuru, Eldoret, Nyeri, Machakos, Athi River, Kitengela, Kajiado, Naivasha, Narok, Kericho, Bomet, Kisii, Migori, Homa Bay, Siaya, Bungoma, Busia, Kakamega, Vihiga, Webuye, Kitale, Nandi Hills, Iten, Kapenguria, Embu, Meru, Chuka, Kerugoya, Murang’a, Othaya, Nyahururu, Nanyuki, Maralal, Isiolo, Marsabit, Moyale, Wajir, Mandera, Garissa, Lodwar, Kitui, Mwingi, Makueni, Emali, Kibwezi, Voi, Taveta, Wundanyi, Mariakani, Diani, Ukunda, Kilifi, Watamu, Malindi, Lamu and Hola. Tell us how many weeks your doctor has set and we will work out exactly how many capsules that is, then send them in one parcel.

Across Africa, ask us before you order. We have sent orders to Uganda, Tanzania, Somaliland and as far as Malawi, and we will quote for Rwanda, Burundi, South Sudan, Ethiopia, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Mozambique, Nigeria, Ghana, South Africa and the rest of the continent. Many countries cap the vitamin D strength permitted in a food supplement, and at sixty thousand units a capsule that is worth checking before the parcel travels rather than after. Tell us the destination and we will confirm it.

Living abroad? Order from wherever you are and we deliver to your family here in Kenya. Kenyans in the UK, the United States, Canada, South Africa and the Gulf order from us regularly for parents and relatives at home. A weekly capsule is an easy thing for a relative to keep up with. On this product we would ask one thing first: that the person taking it has had their vitamin D level checked, or has been told by a doctor to take it. If they have not, our doctor can see them here before the course starts. A high-strength weekly capsule is not the right thing to send on spec. Tell us who it is for and we will set it up.

Why Buy Your Sara D3 from HealthAlone Kenya?

HealthAlone is a pharmacist-led health ecosystem licensed by the Pharmacy and Poisons Board, and our stock is original, sealed and correctly stored. Kahawa Sukari is a real counter with real pharmacists behind it.

Our pharmacists will make sure you leave knowing it is one capsule a week, ask whether your level has been tested and bring our doctor in when it has not, total the vitamin D across everything else in your cupboard, check it against any prescribed vitamin D medicine, explain why the fat-containing meal matters, and point you at a lower daily strength or at the drops when either is the honest answer. On a capsule this size, that conversation is the part that matters most.

It is one more step in our vision: building Africa’s most trusted health ecosystem, accessible to everyone, everywhere.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Sara D3 used for?

It is a high-strength weekly vitamin D3 capsule for adults. Vitamin D contributes to the normal absorption and utilisation of calcium, to the maintenance of normal bones, teeth and muscle function, and to the normal function of the immune system. At this strength it is normally used to bring a low vitamin D level back up, under a doctor’s direction, and we have a doctor here who can set that for you.

What are the side effects of Sara D3?

At one capsule a week, taken as directed, most people notice nothing. The effects worth knowing about are associated with taking too much vitamin D over time rather than with correct weekly use, and they all point the same way, which is calcium rising in the blood: nausea, unusual thirst, passing more urine than usual, constipation, and a tiredness that settles in and stays. If any of those appear, stop, come and see us, and have your calcium checked. They resolve once the dose is corrected. The single most important thing you can do to avoid them is to take the capsule weekly rather than daily.

How do I take Sara D3, and how often?

One capsule once a week, with a meal containing some fat, on the same day each week. Vitamin D is fat-soluble, so taking it with eggs, avocado, nuts or a meal cooked in oil gets considerably more of the dose into you than taking it with tea alone. If you miss a week, take it when you remember and carry on rather than doubling up.

Is 60,000 IU a lot?

As a weekly dose it is a correction dose, and a well-established one. Spread over seven days it averages a little over eight and a half thousand units a day. As a daily dose it would be far too much, which is why the weekly rhythm is the most important instruction attached to this product. The upper intake level set for adults is 4,000 IU a day.

What does Sara D3 cost in Kenya?

The current price is shown at the top of this listing. Because it is a weekly capsule, a small pack covers several weeks, so the cost per week is modest compared with a daily tablet. Our pharmacist will work out how many capsules your course needs.

Do I need a blood test before taking Sara D3?

It is the right way to decide. A 25-hydroxyvitamin D test shows whether you need this strength and for how many weeks, and it gives you something to re-check against afterwards. We have a doctor here who can order the test, read the result with you and set the course, so you can settle the whole thing in one visit.

Which is better, the Sara D3 capsules or the Sara D3 drops?

They are built for different jobs. The 60,000 IU capsule is a weekly adult correction dose. The oral drops are a liquid, measured drop by drop, which suits anyone who finds capsules difficult and is the format used where a smaller or adjustable dose is wanted. Tell our pharmacist who it is for and we will point you at the right one.

Is Sara D3 suitable for children?

This weekly capsule is an adult product and children are dosed quite differently, so please do not divide an adult dose. Our doctor can see your child and set the right one, or your own doctor can.

Can I take Sara D3 with my calcium tablet or multivitamin?

Tell us what they are first. Many of them already contain vitamin D, and the total across everything is what matters. If you take a prescribed vitamin D medicine containing the activated form, bring the prescription in and our doctor will look at it with you, or speak to the doctor who prescribed it.

How long before Sara D3 makes a difference?

Blood levels climb over weeks to months and there is nothing to feel day by day. Judge it by a repeat test rather than by how you feel.
