Buy Retinoid Cream Online in Kenya – Renew Cell Retinol Night Cream
Renew Cell Retinol is an evening retinoid cream combining retinol with niacinamide, peptides, hyaluronic acid and vitamin C, applied to a clean dry face at night.
Retinol is the best-evidenced ingredient in cosmetic skincare, and the first six weeks are a negotiation with your skin. Dryness, flaking and mild stinging early on are normal rather than a sign it is wrong for you. It suits adults wanting to work on fine lines, texture and the marks left by acne. Twice a week to start, never in pregnancy, and sunscreen every single morning. Used nightly from day one on melanin-rich skin it will do the opposite of what you bought it for.
Retinol Works — the Difficulty Is How You Start It
Very little in skincare has decades of evidence behind it. Retinol does — real data for fine lines, texture and acne — and it earns the place it has.
What it does not do is calm skin. Retinol speeds up how quickly skin cells turn over, and in the first month that commonly shows as dryness, flaking, tightness and mild stinging. That is the ingredient working, not a reaction to it — and it is the reason most people who buy a retinol abandon it in week three, exactly when it was about to start paying off.
So expect a settling-in period and plan for it. Skin usually adjusts within four to six weeks if you introduce it slowly, and the results on fine lines and texture take longer still — the fourth question below covers how to judge it.
The Retinol Trap on Melanin-Rich Skin
The most important thing on the page, and a trap because the logic feels right. Retinol targets uneven tone and dark marks — exactly what most people here want fixed. So the instinct is to use it every night from the start, and harder if nothing has happened by week two. But on melanin-rich skin, irritation makes pigment. Anything that inflames the skin leaves a dark mark that outlasts whatever caused it, often by months.
Which means retinol used too hard produces more dark spots than you started with. The cream did not fail. It was used too hard, and the marks it caused are now competing with the marks it was bought to fade. Going slowly is not the cautious option here, it is the option that works.
Start Twice a Week and Build
Two nights a week for the first fortnight. If your skin is comfortable the next morning, three nights a week for a fortnight. Then alternate nights. Only after two months, and only if you want to, every night — and plenty of people get everything they came for at alternate nights and stay there.
Signs you have gone too fast: stinging that does not settle within a minute, flaking that a moisturiser does not fix, or skin tight five minutes after washing. Drop back a step rather than stopping. A useful trick early on is to apply a plain moisturiser first and the retinoid over it, which slows absorption and takes the edge off.
Not in Pregnancy
Not a precaution, a rule. Do not use any retinoid if you are pregnant, breastfeeding or trying to conceive. Oral retinoids are known to cause serious birth defects, and although a cream absorbs far less, no responsible pharmacy asks a pregnant woman to accept an avoidable risk for a cosmetic result. Stop before you start trying, not when you find out — and if you are pregnant now and want to work on your skin, come and talk to us, because there are ingredients that are perfectly fine and we will point you at them.
What Not to Use It With, Including Three Products We Sell
Layering actives is where home routines go wrong, and that irritation is what leaves marks. Nothing else active on the same night: no acid exfoliant, no separate vitamin C, no benzoyl peroxide, no scrub, no home peel. In our own range that rules out the Pigmentbio C-Concentrate, the Regenera Radiance Night Cream and the Herbella Vitamin C Serum on the same night. Alternate them — and if that sounds like too much bookkeeping, it is a sign of owning one active too many.
This cream already contains a little vitamin C alongside the retinol, which is fine: a manufacturer balancing two ingredients in one formula is a different thing from you layering two products. It does mean you should not add a third.
Also: not on broken, sunburnt or freshly waxed skin, and stop several days before any peel, laser, threading or waxing and tell the practitioner you have been using a retinoid.
Sunscreen Every Morning, Without Exception
Two reasons, both firm. Retinol makes skin more sensitive to ultraviolet light, so the day after is riskier than usual. And ultraviolet is the main thing breaking down the collagen and driving the pigment you are using this to improve — a retinoid without daily sunscreen is money spent undoing itself.
Kenya sharpens both: we are on the equator, Nairobi sits near eighteen hundred metres, and UVA passes through cloud, matatu windows and office glass. Broad-spectrum SPF 50 every morning, cloudy days included — our Sunfair page is the place to start. If your budget this month covers only one of the two, buy the sunscreen.
The Strength Is Not on the Label, and It Matters
We would rather say this than let you find out by trial. Retinoid products differ enormously by strength, and the carton on this one does not state a percentage. A low-strength retinol and a high-strength one are different experiences of the same ingredient, in results and in how much irritation to expect. Ask us before you buy and we will tell you what the manufacturer has given us — and if you have used a retinoid before and found it too harsh or too mild, that is exactly the conversation to have.
How to Use This Retinoid Cream
The last step happens the following morning, and it is the one that protects the rest.
- Cleanse gently in the evening and let the skin dry completely. Applying a retinoid to damp skin increases absorption and irritation, which is the opposite of what you want early on
- A pea-sized amount for the whole face, spread thinly. Avoid the eyelids, the corners of the nose and the corners of the mouth, where skin is thinnest
- Two nights a week to begin with, building over two months as described above
- A plain moisturiser afterwards if the skin feels tight. Nothing else active on the same night
- Sunscreen every morning. This is the step that decides whether the other four were worth doing
Choosing Between Our Two Retinoid Creams
We carry this one and the Herbella Anti-Aging Face Cream. Both are evening retinoid products and they are not interchangeable: they differ in strength, texture and price, and the right one depends on whether you have used a retinoid before and how your skin behaved. Tell our pharmacist what you have tried and what happened. It is the difference between a jar you finish and a jar that sits in a drawer after a bad fortnight.
Who Should Wait, or Choose Something Gentler
If you are pregnant, breastfeeding or trying to conceive, this is not for you and nor is any other retinoid. If your skin is currently broken, sunburnt, actively inflamed or freshly waxed, wait until it has settled.
If you have eczema, rosacea or skin that reacts to most things, a retinoid is a hard first step — there are gentler routes to smoother texture and we would rather sell you one of those than have you abandon an expensive jar in week two. And if what you are actually treating is melasma, or a patch that is growing, changing colour or bleeding, see a doctor rather than buying a cream.
Why Buy Your Retinoid Cream from HealthAlone Kenya?
HealthAlone is a pharmacist-led health ecosystem licensed by the Pharmacy and Poisons Board, and our stock is original, sealed and correctly stored. That matters unusually much with retinol, because it degrades in heat and light: a jar that has sat somewhere warm or bright is worth less than its label says. Keep yours capped, cool and out of the window. And this is a product worth asking about before buying — bring us what you use now, or a photograph of the labels, and our pharmacist will tell you whether a retinoid is the right next step, which of the two to start with, and what to stop while you do.
We deliver across Kenya — Nairobi first, then Mombasa, Kisumu, Nakuru, Eldoret, Thika and beyond — and across East Africa to Tanzania and Uganda, with the wider African market where we are heading. Collect in person at Kahawa Sukari Shopping Center, Nairobi. Living abroad? Order online from the US or UK and we deliver to your family in Kenya.
It is one more step in our vision: building Africa’s most trusted health ecosystem, accessible to everyone, everywhere.
Frequently Asked Questions
My skin is peeling and stinging. Is something wrong?
Usually not, in the first few weeks. Retinol speeds up cell turnover and dryness, flaking and mild stinging are the normal settling-in, which most skin gets through in four to six weeks. What is not normal is stinging that does not settle within a minute, raw or weeping skin, or swelling — stop and come and see us. Otherwise, drop back to fewer nights a week rather than giving up.
Can I use it if I am pregnant or breastfeeding?
No. Do not use any retinoid if you are pregnant, breastfeeding or trying to conceive, and stop before you start trying rather than when you find out. The amount absorbed from a cream is small, but it is an avoidable risk taken for a cosmetic result. Come and talk to us instead — there are ingredients that are perfectly fine in pregnancy.
How strong is it? What percentage of retinol?
The carton does not state a percentage, and we would rather tell you that than guess. Strength matters a great deal with retinoids, both for results and for how much irritation to expect. Ask our pharmacist before you buy and we will tell you what the manufacturer has given us, and whether this or the gentler option in our range suits where you are starting from.
How long before I see a difference?
Four to six weeks for your skin to settle into it, eight to twelve weeks before you can honestly judge the results on fine lines and texture. Take a photograph in daylight on your first night and compare against the same lighting at eight weeks, because the change is too gradual to see in a mirror you look into every morning.
Is it safe for sensitive skin?
Retinol is not a sensitive-skin ingredient, and any page telling you otherwise is doing you no favours. It can be used on reactive skin, but only very slowly — one night a week to begin with, moisturiser first and the retinoid over it. If you have eczema or rosacea, talk to us before buying, because there are gentler ways to get much of the same result.
Can I use it with my vitamin C serum or a brightening cream?
Not on the same night. Alternate them — retinoid one night, the other the next. That includes our Pigmentbio C-Concentrate, the Regenera Radiance Night Cream and the Herbella Vitamin C Serum. The vitamin C already in this formula is not a problem: a manufacturer balancing ingredients in one product is different from you stacking two.
Can I use it in the morning?
No, evening only. Retinol degrades in light and raises sun sensitivity, so a morning application gets you the risk without the benefit. Mornings belong to sunscreen, which is not optional while you are using this.
Will it make my dark spots worse before they get better?
It can, if you go too fast. On melanin-rich skin any irritation leaves a dark mark, so a retinoid used nightly from the first night often produces more marks than it fades. Used slowly it does the opposite. This is the single biggest reason to build up over two months rather than two weeks.
Which of your two retinoid creams should I buy?
It depends on whether you have used a retinoid before and how your skin behaved. We carry this one and the Herbella Anti-Aging Face Cream, and they differ in strength, texture and price. Tell our pharmacist what you have tried and what happened, and you will get a straight answer in two minutes rather than a guess from a web page.
