Osteo Advance, Five Bone Nutrients in One Vegan Tablet Pair

Osteo Advance helps keep your bones working normally as the years go on, supplying calcium, magnesium, vitamin D3, vitamin K2 and zinc together in two tablets taken daily with food. Sixty tablets to a pack, which is a month at the recommended intake, from Nature’s Aid.

Five nutrients, five separate roles in maintaining normal bone, and every one of them present in an amount that earns its place rather than decorating the label. Here is what each one does, how much of it you get, why the five work better as a set than separately, and how to take the pair so your body makes the most of them.

What Osteo Advance Does, Nutrient by Nutrient

Each of the five carries an approved European health claim for bone, which is unusual in a single formula, and the amounts are generous enough for every one of those claims to apply.

  • Calcium, 800mg per two tablets, 100 per cent of the daily reference intake. Needed for the maintenance of normal bones and teeth, and it also contributes to normal muscle function, normal neurotransmission and normal blood clotting. Calcium is the mineral your skeleton is built from and the one most adult diets fall short on.
  • Magnesium, 400mg, 107 per cent. Contributes to the maintenance of normal bones and teeth, to normal muscle function, to normal nervous system and psychological function, and to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue. Magnesium works alongside calcium rather than competing with it, which is why a bone formula should carry both.
  • Vitamin D3, 10 micrograms or 400 IU, 200 per cent. Contributes to the normal absorption and utilisation of calcium, to normal blood calcium levels and to the maintenance of normal bones, teeth and muscle function. This is the nutrient that lets the calcium in.
  • Vitamin K2 as MenaQ7 menaquinone-7, 45 micrograms, 60 per cent. Contributes to the maintenance of normal bones. MenaQ7 is the branded, well-characterised form used in the published vitamin K2 bone research, and it stays in circulation far longer than the K1 found in green vegetables.
  • Zinc, 15mg, 150 per cent. Contributes to the maintenance of normal bones, to normal immune function, to normal cognitive function and to the protection of cells from oxidative stress.

Why the Combination Makes Sense

Calcium on its own asks a lot of your body. It has to be absorbed from the gut, carried in the blood, and then laid down in bone rather than left circulating. Vitamin D handles the first step, opening the gut to calcium and keeping blood levels where they should be. Vitamin K2 matters for the last one, and that is the part a plain calcium tablet leaves out.

Magnesium sits underneath all of it. Roughly half of the body’s magnesium is stored in bone, and it has its own authorised bone claim alongside its better-known work on muscles, nerves and tiredness. Zinc completes the set with a bone claim of its own.

Taken together, five nutrients covering absorption, transport, deposition and structure is a more complete answer than a calcium tablet, and it is the reason this formula exists in the shape it does.

How to Take Osteo Advance

Two tablets daily, with food. Both at once or one with each of two meals, whichever you will actually remember. Food matters more here than timing does: the bulk of the calcium is calcium carbonate, which your stomach acid converts before absorption, and a meal is what gives it that acid. Taken on an empty stomach, considerably less of it gets in.

Sixty tablets at two a day is thirty days, so one pack is one month. Bone responds over seasons rather than weeks, so plan on taking it steadily and reorder before you run out rather than starting and stopping.

Keep a few hours between Osteo Advance and certain medicines. Calcium binds thyroxine, iron tablets and several antibiotics in the gut, which means the medicine absorbs poorly if they travel together. Four hours apart is the usual advice and it solves the problem entirely. Our pharmacist will work out the timing with you in a minute if you bring your list.

The tablets are oblong and a reasonable size. Take them with a full glass of water, sitting or standing rather than lying down.

Who This Suits

Adults past fifty, when bone turnover shifts and dietary calcium starts to matter more than it did. Women after menopause, for the same reason, more sharply. Anyone whose diet is light on dairy, whether by preference, by lactose intolerance or by cost. Vegans and vegetarians, for whom this formula was built: the vitamin D3 is from a vegan source, and the pack is free from dairy, gluten, lactose, nuts and soya. People who work indoors through daylight hours, which in Nairobi describes a great many adults. And anyone who would rather take one well-made formula than assemble four separate bottles.

Is Osteo Advance Right for You?

A few things to settle with our pharmacist first. It takes a couple of minutes at the counter and it is the part worth making time for.

  • If you take warfarin or another vitamin K antagonist, speak to your doctor before you start. This formula contains vitamin K2, and warfarin works by acting against vitamin K. The amount here is modest, and what matters is keeping your intake steady and having your INR monitored while you settle in. Your doctor should make that call rather than the label.
  • Add up the calcium and vitamin D already in your cupboard. Bone formulas, joint supplements, multivitamins and calcium tablets commonly carry both, and this pack supplies a full day’s calcium on its own. Bring us the list and we will total it with you.
  • If you take a prescribed vitamin D medicine, tell your doctor before adding this. Some prescriptions contain the activated form, which acts far more strongly on blood calcium, and a calcium supplement alongside it needs medical judgement.
  • Magnesium at this level loosens the bowels for some people. Taking the two tablets with meals rather than together on an empty stomach usually settles it, and your pharmacist can suggest how to ease into it.
  • If you have kidney disease, or a history of kidney stones or high blood calcium, check with your doctor first. These are the situations where a full day of calcium needs supervising rather than self-managing.

Storing It

Keep the tub tightly closed in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight, below 25 degrees, and out of reach of children. A cupboard rather than a windowsill or the shelf above the cooker. Tablets take in moisture from humid air, so leave any desiccant sachet in the tub and close the lid properly between doses. On a one-month pack, check the expiry date when you buy in bulk.

Where to Buy Osteo Advance in Kenya

Order online and we deliver countrywide, or collect from our pharmacy at Kahawa Sukari Shopping Center, Nairobi. We send orders to Nairobi and every neighbourhood around it — the CBD, Westlands, Parklands, Gigiri, Muthaiga, Runda, Rosslyn, Kitisuru, Lower Kabete, Lavington, Kileleshwa, Kilimani, Karen, Langata, South B, South C, Eastleigh, Buruburu, Donholm, Embakasi, Ngong Road, Kasarani, Roysambu, Zimmerman, Githurai, Ruaka, Banana Hill, Two Rivers, Village Market and Pride Lands — and across Kiambu, Thika, Juja, Ruiru, Kikuyu, Limuru and Ngong.

Beyond the capital we deliver to Mombasa, Kisumu, Nakuru, Eldoret, Nyeri, Machakos, Athi River, Kitengela, Kajiado, Naivasha, Narok, Kericho, Bomet, Kisii, Migori, Homa Bay, Siaya, Bungoma, Busia, Kakamega, Vihiga, Webuye, Kitale, Nandi Hills, Iten, Kapenguria, Embu, Meru, Chuka, Kerugoya, Murang’a, Othaya, Nyahururu, Nanyuki, Maralal, Isiolo, Marsabit, Moyale, Wajir, Mandera, Garissa, Lodwar, Kitui, Mwingi, Makueni, Emali, Kibwezi, Voi, Taveta, Wundanyi, Mariakani, Diani, Ukunda, Kilifi, Watamu, Malindi, Lamu and Hola. A pack is one month at two tablets a day, so most customers outside Nairobi order two or three tubs at a time and we pack them to travel together.

Across Africa, ask us before you order. We have sent orders to Uganda, Tanzania, Somaliland and as far as Malawi, and we will quote for Rwanda, Burundi, South Sudan, Ethiopia, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Mozambique, Nigeria, Ghana, South Africa and the rest of the continent. Some countries cap the calcium or vitamin D permitted in a food supplement, so tell us the destination and we will confirm the paperwork before the parcel leaves us.

Living abroad? Order from wherever you are and we deliver to your family here in Kenya. Kenyans in the UK, the United States, Canada, South Africa and the Gulf order from us regularly for parents and relatives at home. A bone formula is a sensible thing to send, because the benefit builds over seasons and a steady supply matters more than a single tub. Tell us who it is for and how many months you want covered, and we will set up the repeat.

Why Buy Your Osteo Advance from HealthAlone Kenya?

HealthAlone is a pharmacist-led health ecosystem licensed by the Pharmacy and Poisons Board, and our stock is original, sealed and correctly stored. Kahawa Sukari is a real counter with real pharmacists behind it.

Our pharmacists will read you the actual amounts rather than the ingredient names, total the calcium and vitamin D across everything else in your cupboard, check it against warfarin and any thyroid or iron medicine you take, work out the four-hour spacing with you, and tell you honestly how long to give it before judging the result. On a supplement you will take for seasons, that conversation decides whether the money was well spent.

It is one more step in our vision: building Africa’s most trusted health ecosystem, accessible to everyone, everywhere.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Osteo Advance used for?

It is a daily bone support formula for adults. Two tablets supply calcium, magnesium, vitamin D3, vitamin K2 and zinc, all five of which contribute to the maintenance of normal bones.

What is in Osteo Advance and how much?

Per two tablets: calcium 800mg (100 per cent of the daily reference intake), magnesium 400mg (107 per cent), vitamin D3 10 micrograms or 400 IU (200 per cent), vitamin K2 as MenaQ7 menaquinone-7 45 micrograms (60 per cent), and zinc 15mg (150 per cent).

How many tablets a day, and how many in a pack?

Two tablets daily with food, and sixty tablets to a pack, which is exactly one month.

Is Osteo Advance vegan?

Yes. The vitamin D3 is from a vegan source rather than lanolin, and the pack is free from dairy, lactose, gluten, wheat, yeast, nuts, corn, starch, sugar, artificial colours and artificial flavours.

Why does a bone supplement contain vitamin K2?

Vitamin K2 contributes to the maintenance of normal bones, and it works at a different stage from calcium and vitamin D. The form here is MenaQ7 menaquinone-7, which is the branded material used in the published vitamin K2 bone research and stays in circulation considerably longer than the vitamin K1 in green vegetables.

Can I take Osteo Advance with warfarin?

Speak to your doctor first. Warfarin works by acting against vitamin K, and this formula contains vitamin K2. The amount is modest and the usual approach is a steady intake with INR monitoring while you settle, but that decision belongs with your doctor.

Does it matter when I take it alongside my other medicines?

Yes, and this is the most useful practical point. Calcium binds thyroxine, iron tablets and several antibiotics in the gut, so leave about four hours between them. Bring us your list and our pharmacist will set the timing with you.

Should I take it with food?

Yes. Most of the calcium here is calcium carbonate, which your stomach acid converts before it can be absorbed, and a meal provides that acid. Taking the tablets with food gets considerably more of the calcium into you.

Can I take Osteo Advance with my other vitamin D supplement?

Tell us what the other one is first. This pack already supplies twice the daily reference intake of vitamin D along with a full day of calcium, and several products on our shelves carry vitamin D too. Our pharmacist will add up the total with you in a minute.

How long before Osteo Advance makes a difference?

Bone responds over seasons rather than weeks, and there is nothing to feel day to day. Take it steadily and judge it by what your doctor measures rather than by how you feel.
