Enterogermina Probiotic 10’s

Enterogermina is the probiotic people take for loose stools and the unsettled gut that follows a course of antibiotics or a bout of diarrhoea, swallowed straight from the vial. Each vial carries 2 billion spores of Bacillus clausii and a pack holds 10, with no refrigeration needed because the spore form survives a hot cupboard. The daily dose is not printed on the information we hold, so please ask our pharmacist and we will work it out with you.

What Enterogermina’s Probiotic Spores Are For

Enterogermina is a probiotic taken for loose stools and the unsettled gut that follows a course of antibiotics or a bout of diarrhoea. Each vial carries 2 billion spores of Bacillus clausii, swallowed straight from the vial, and a pack holds 10. It is free from lactose, gluten and sugar.

The organism is a spore-forming bacterium, which is the whole reason this comes as a shelf-stable vial rather than something kept in a fridge. A spore is a dormant, armoured form that survives heat, stomach acid and time on a shelf, then wakes up in the gut. In a country where a cupboard reaches thirty degrees in the afternoon, that is a real advantage over a live culture that needs chilling.

What Can Honestly Be Said About a Probiotic

No health claim for any probiotic is authorised. Every claim submitted has been rejected or left on hold, so nobody may say a probiotic treats diarrhoea, restores flora or lifts immunity, and we hold back from saying any of it.

What we can give you is the organism, the spore count, how to take it and when a doctor beats a vial. On a shelf where most products say nothing more precise than “live cultures”, naming Bacillus clausii and 2 billion spores already puts this one ahead.

How to Take It, and the Antibiotic Timing

Twist off the cap, swallow the contents of the vial straight, or stir it into a little cool water or milk and drink it at once. Use cool liquid rather than hot; heat is one of the few things that undoes the organisms you have paid for.

If you are taking it because of antibiotics, leave two hours between the antibiotic and the vial. An antibiotic swallowed at the same time kills a good share of a bacterial probiotic, and that one piece of timing decides whether the pack does anything. Keep going for a few days after the antibiotic course finishes rather than stopping on the same day.

A pack of 10 vials is a few days at the usual rate for an adult, so ask us how many packs a full antibiotic course needs rather than buying one and running short halfway through.

One more practical point about the heat. The spore form is tough, but tough is relative: a pack left in a parked car or on a sunny shelf still loses something over weeks. A kitchen cupboard away from the cooker is fine, and that is all the care this one needs.

The Dose Is Not Printed, So Please Ask

The dosing information we hold for this product leaves out how many vials an adult or a child should take in a day, and we would rather point at the gap than invent a number. Come in, or send us a message, and our pharmacist will read the carton with you and work out the dose from the age and weight of whoever it is for.

That matters more on a children’s product than anywhere else. A child’s dose follows their weight rather than being an adult dose halved, and with a sealed vial there is no way to take part of one.

If Another Form Would Suit You Better

A vial is easy for an adult and awkward for a toddler who refuses to drink from one. Our Entero Pro liquid comes ready-mixed with a bottle you can measure from, which is usually the easier route for a small child.

And if you are about to start antibiotics and would rather take one thing at one time instead of spacing doses two hours apart, Normagut is a yeast rather than a bacterium, so an antibiotic leaves it alone and the timing stops mattering. It carries its own caution for anyone whose immune system is compromised, which our pharmacist will go through with you.

The Warning Signs That Mean a Doctor Today

Please come in rather than ordering if there is blood in the stool, a high fever, vomiting of everything taken, unusual sleepiness, sunken eyes or a dry mouth, a baby dry for several hours, or diarrhoea lasting more than 14 days. For an adult, add weight loss you did not intend and diarrhoea that keeps returning over weeks.

And when the patient is a child, fluid comes before everything. Oral rehydration salts and zinc are what the World Health Organization recommends for childhood diarrhoea; a probiotic sits alongside them. Ask us and we will put all three in the same bag and explain the spacing.

Is Enterogermina Right for You?

It suits an adult who wants a named organism, a stated spore count and a form that survives a hot cupboard, particularly around a course of antibiotics. The vial is tidy, there is nothing to measure for an adult, and the spore form is genuinely well chosen for this climate.

Please speak to us first if any of these describes you:

  • You are buying it for a child. Come for the dose, and for oral rehydration salts and zinc at the same time.
  • Your immune system is weakened, or you have a drip, a central line or a feeding tube. Live organisms need our doctor’s say-so.
  • You are pregnant or breastfeeding. Please see our doctor first.
  • There is blood in the stool, a high fever, or any sign of dehydration. Please come in today.
  • Diarrhoea has lasted more than 14 days or keeps returning. That wants examining rather than treating over a counter.

And if you are unsure how many vials a day, or how many packs your course needs, ask our pharmacist. We would rather work it out with you than have you guess from a carton.

HealthAlone is a pharmacist-led health ecosystem licensed by the Pharmacy and Poisons Board, and our stock is original, sealed and correctly stored. Kahawa Sukari is a real counter with real pharmacists behind it.

Our pharmacists will read the carton with you because the daily dose is nowhere in the information we hold, explain the two-hour antibiotic spacing that decides whether a pack does anything, and put oral rehydration salts and zinc in the bag when a child has diarrhoea. It is one more step in our vision: building Africa’s most trusted health ecosystem, accessible to everyone, everywhere.

Enterogermina Probiotic 10’s: Your Questions Answered

What is in Enterogermina?

2 billion spores of Bacillus clausii per vial, 10 vials to a pack, free from lactose, gluten and sugar. No health claim for any probiotic is authorised, so we hold back from promising a result.

What does spore-forming mean?

A spore is a dormant, armoured form of the bacterium that survives heat, stomach acid and time on a shelf, then becomes active in the gut. It is why this needs no fridge, which matters in a Kenyan cupboard.

How many vials should I take a day?

The dosing information we hold does not state it, and we would rather say so than invent a figure. Ask our pharmacist and we will read the carton with you and work it out from age and weight.

How do I take it?

Twist off the cap and swallow the contents straight, or stir it into a little cool water or milk and drink at once. Never hot liquid.

Can I take it with antibiotics?

Yes, but leave two hours between the antibiotic and the vial. Taken together, the antibiotic kills much of what you have just swallowed. Carry on a few days after the course ends.

Does it need refrigeration?

No. The spore form is the reason. Keep it cool, dry and out of direct sun all the same.

Is it safe for children?

Ask our pharmacist for the dose and the right form. A vial is awkward for a toddler and we have a measurable liquid instead. For a child with a weakened immune system or a central line, our doctor should decide.

My child has diarrhoea. What comes first?

Fluid. Oral rehydration salts and zinc are the WHO-recommended treatment for childhood diarrhoea and they matter most; a probiotic goes alongside. Ask us for all three together.

How long will a pack last?

Ten vials, which is a few days for an adult at the usual rate. Tell us how long your antibiotic course runs and we will work out how many packs you need rather than leaving you short halfway.

Can I use it in pregnancy?

Please see our doctor first.

What is the difference between this and a yeast probiotic?

An antibiotic kills bacteria and leaves yeasts alone, so with a yeast the two-hour spacing stops mattering. A yeast carries its own caution for anyone whose immune system is compromised. Our pharmacist will pick between them for you.

When should I see a doctor instead?

Today, if there is blood in the stool, a high fever, vomiting of everything, sleepiness, sunken eyes or a dry mouth, or diarrhoea lasting over 14 days. For adults, add unintended weight loss.
