Calmoz Tablets, Bone and Joint Support With Rosehip
Calmoz tablets supply calcium and magnesium to help keep your bones and muscles working normally, manganese for normal connective tissue, and rosehip and omega-3 alongside them, in a single tablet taken once a day. Thirty tablets to a bottle, taken with a meal.
Most bone and joint products stop at calcium and vitamin D. This one adds rosehip, the ingredient worth knowing about, because it carries the most interesting research in the formula. The rest covers the ordinary nutritional ground well. Here is what each part does, what the rosehip evidence says, and how to get the most from a tablet a day.
Rosehip Is the Ingredient That Sets This Apart
Rosehip is the fruit of the wild rose, Rosa canina, long used for joint comfort in northern Europe. What lifts it above folklore is that somebody took the trouble to test it properly.
A meta-analysis published in Osteoarthritis and Cartilage in 2008 pooled three randomised controlled trials, just under three hundred patients, comparing rosehip powder against placebo over a median of three months. It found a modest but real reduction in pain, and patients taking rosehip were around twice as likely as those on placebo to respond. The authors put the number needed to treat at six: for every six people who take it, one may notice a benefit they would not otherwise have had.
Those are honest, moderate numbers and worth reading as such: rosehip may help with joint comfort, working gradually over weeks rather than in the way a painkiller works. Researchers point to a galactolipid in the fruit, abbreviated GOPO, as the compound most likely responsible, and laboratory work suggests it may dampen some of the signalling involved in joint wear. Rosehip is also rich in vitamin C, polyphenols and anthocyanins.
What the Calcium and Magnesium Are Doing
These two are the nutritional backbone of the formula and the part where the ground is settled.
Calcium is needed for the maintenance of normal bones and teeth, and contributes to normal muscle function, normal neurotransmission and normal blood clotting. Around ninety-nine per cent of it sits in the skeleton; the small remainder does work you would notice immediately if it stopped.
Magnesium contributes to the maintenance of normal bones, normal muscle function, normal protein synthesis and the reduction of tiredness and fatigue. Roughly half the body’s magnesium is held in bone, which makes it an odd thing for most calcium products to omit, and it also helps activate vitamin D.
Both of those are authorised European health claims, which means they rest on evidence a regulator has already examined rather than on a marketing department’s enthusiasm.
Manganese, Omega-3 and the Rest
Manganese is the quiet one and it earns its place. It contributes to the normal formation of connective tissue and to the protection of cells from oxidative stress, both authorised claims. Connective tissue is what cartilage, tendon and ligament are made of, so here it does directly relevant work.
Omega-3 fatty acids contribute to the normal function of the heart, and at higher intakes to the maintenance of normal blood pressure and normal triglyceride levels. Whether the amount in a combination tablet reaches the levels those claims require depends on the dose, which is one of the things we will read off the bottle for you.
The pack also carries a group of vitamins and minerals rounding out the formula, and our pharmacist will go through the full panel with you before you order.
What Is in Calmoz Tablets
The bottle holds thirty tablets. The ingredients are calcium, magnesium, rosehip extract, omega-3 fatty acids, manganese, and a group of supporting vitamins and minerals.
- Calcium — for the maintenance of normal bones and teeth, normal muscle function and normal neurotransmission.
- Magnesium — for normal bones, normal muscle function, normal protein synthesis and the reduction of tiredness and fatigue.
- Rosehip extract — the differentiating ingredient, studied for joint comfort and naturally rich in vitamin C and polyphenols.
- Omega-3 fatty acids — for the normal function of the heart.
- Manganese — for the normal formation of connective tissue and the protection of cells from oxidative stress.
- Supporting vitamins and minerals — the full panel is on the label and we will read it to you.
We have deliberately printed no milligram figures here. The amounts matter a great deal here, particularly for the rosehip and the omega-3, because the research used specific doses and a tablet carrying a fraction of one is a different proposition from a tablet carrying the whole. Ring us or message us and our pharmacist will read the panel off the bottle we are holding before you commit. We would rather tell you the real numbers than print a round one.
How to Take Calmoz Tablets, and What to Expect
One tablet daily with a meal. Taking it with food helps the calcium absorb and the omega-3 sit comfortably, and it makes the habit easier to keep.
Give it time. The rosehip trials ran over a median of three months, and bone remodelling works on a cycle of months rather than weeks. Three months of steady daily use is a fair test; a fortnight is not. The people who get the most out of a product like this are the ones who build it into a routine and stop thinking about it.
Mind the timing around other medicines. Calcium reduces how well the body absorbs levothyroxine, iron tablets and the tetracycline antibiotics. Two to four hours between them settles it, and we will write out a timetable if you tell us what else you take.
Pair it with what the nutrients need. Weight-bearing movement — walking, stairs, carrying the shopping — is what tells bone to hold on to the minerals you are feeding it, and gentle regular movement is also what keeps a stiff joint comfortable. Food counts too: milk, maziwa lala, sardines and omena eaten with the bones, sukuma wiki and other dark greens.
Who Calmoz Tablets Suit
Adults wanting joint comfort and bone support from one tablet rather than three. People in their forties and beyond noticing stiffness in the knees or hands. Women after menopause, when bone turnover speeds up. Anyone whose diet is light on dairy and oily fish. Office workers and drivers whose joints complain about sitting still. And anyone who has tried a plain glucosamine product and would like a different ingredient behind it.
It suits men and women equally, which is worth saying plainly because the name leads some people to assume otherwise. There is nothing in this formula that is specific to one sex.
Is Calmoz Right for You?
A few things worth checking before you start, and our pharmacist will go through them with you in a couple of minutes.
- Add up your total calcium first. If you already take Bonium, Zedcal, Safecal, an antacid or a multivitamin, you may be getting calcium from more than one place. The daily total is what counts, and more is not better.
- If you take warfarin or another blood thinner, speak to your doctor before starting. Omega-3 at higher intakes can affect how readily blood clots, and this is a conversation to have first rather than later.
- Leave a gap around certain medicines. Thyroid tablets, iron and the tetracycline antibiotics all absorb less well alongside calcium. Two to four hours apart is the usual advice.
- If you have kidney disease, kidney stones or a high blood calcium level, check with your doctor, because the right calcium dose for you may be a different one.
- What you might notice. Mild stomach upset, constipation or a fishy aftertaste from the omega-3 are the commonest comments, and taking the tablet with food usually settles all three. Anything that persists is worth a call to us.
Storing It
Keep the bottle tightly closed in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight, below 25 degrees, and well out of reach of children. Calcium and iron tablets are among the commonest causes of accidental poisoning in small children, so a high shelf rather than a bedside drawer. Keep the desiccant sachet in the bottle, and check the expiry date on the label.

Frequently Asked Questions
What are Calmoz tablets used for?
They are a daily supplement for bone and joint support. The calcium and magnesium are there for normal bones and muscle function, manganese for the normal formation of connective tissue, and rosehip and omega-3 alongside them.
What does the rosehip actually do?
Rosehip has been studied for joint comfort. A 2008 meta-analysis of three randomised trials found a modest reduction in pain against placebo over a median of three months, with roughly twice the chance of responding. It may help, it works slowly, and it is not a painkiller.
What is the Calmoz tablets dosage?
One tablet daily with a meal. Taking it with food helps the calcium absorb and keeps the omega-3 comfortable on the stomach.
How long before I notice anything?
Give it three months. The rosehip trials ran over that length of time and bone works on a cycle of months. This is a supplement you take steadily in the background rather than one you feel working.
What are the side effects of Calmoz tablets?
Mild stomach upset, constipation and a fishy aftertaste from the omega-3 are the commonest comments, and taking it with food usually settles all three. Call us if anything persists.
Can men take Calmoz tablets?
Yes. There is nothing in the formula specific to one sex, and the bone and joint reasons for taking it apply to men just as much. The name misleads some people, which is why we say so here.
Can I take it with warfarin?
Speak to your doctor first. Omega-3 at higher intakes can affect how readily blood clots, so this is a conversation to have before you start rather than after.
Can I take it with my thyroid tablet or iron?
Leave two to four hours between them. Calcium reduces how well levothyroxine, iron and the tetracycline antibiotics are absorbed. Tell us what you take and we will write out the timings.
Is Calmoz the same as Calmoz-M?
No. Calmoz-M is a different product made in India under a similar name, with a different formula. What we stock is Calmoz: calcium and magnesium with rosehip, omega-3, manganese and supporting vitamins, thirty tablets in a bottle. If a doctor named a specific one for you, tell us which and we will confirm before you order.
What exactly is in each tablet?
Call or message us and our pharmacist will read the full panel with the amounts off the bottle we are holding. We would rather give you the real figures than print approximations.
